-DIRECTION
-SPIN & ANTISPIN
-PETAL & FLOWER
-COMPOUND FLOWER

-------------------------------------------

DIRECTION

Rule of Poi Direction*

"Poi stay the same direction that we give it, no matter if we turn."

Meens as we start spin Poi the choosen direction, we cant change it.
What we can change is direction of hand.

Ether hand can spin the same direction as Poi, than we spin
or hand can spin opposite direction than Poi,
than we Anti-spin.

-------------------------------------------

SPIN

If

( left hand and left Poi ) spin foreward & ( right hand and right Poi )
spin foreward and vice versa.

The pattern Poi makes is called....Flower.

ANTI-SPIN

If ( left hand spin foreward and left Poi backward ) &
( right hand spin foreward and right Poi spin backward)
and vice versa.

Let call the pattern Poi meke....Petal.

-------------------------------------------

FLOWER

There are several shapes of flower circles that can be done with one
hand and one Poi.

Lock-out(Fakey) - When we add one circle to the spin before we continue.

Extension - Circle in circle. (thanks Rev)

PETAL

There are several shapes of petal's circles, than can be done with
one hand and one Poi.

Foil(Leave) - Is one circle of anti-spin.

-------------------------------------------

COMPOUND FLOWER**

Now, after we found the possibility of spin and anti-spin circles,
we can try to put them togerther.

Spin & Spin

Giant(long arm) - Here it is quite siple because no matter what
time we spin in the shape did not change and every move we done
is called like that.

Chasing the sun(moon) - If we spin Poi parallel to each other and add
extra beat(lock-out) to the long arm.

Extension - With one hand extension, other hand long arm.

Half-flower - Combination of two lock-outs no matter what time
is it.

Flower - Combination of two half flowers.

Fountain - Flower with 6 circles(two vertical and four diagonal).

Anti-spin & Anti-spin

Quadrifoil - Hands are moving in sqare.

Spin & Anti-spin

What differ, goofy flower,
where one hand spin and one anti-spin in different plane.
Code:
[Wheel plane(SA)].

from

compound flower,
where both hands spin or anti-spin in same plane.
Code:
[wall plane(SA)]

or

uber flower,
where one hand spin and one anti-spin in same plane.
Code:
[(SA,anti-spin)]

?

----------

There is missing one, to make a pair with the first.

Flower,
where both hands spin or anti-spin in different plane.
Code:
[wheel plane,?]

[Nx?] flower.

----------

What is interesting, that all of them are re(a)l.

-------------------------------------------

For more
-Concentric spinning
-All about flowers (happy birthday ICoN)
-SA(Omnimodus by Spherculist)

* - There is only one way howto, using funtamental family, partial arc(thanks Glass).
** - I will try to put all times clear,

SA - Straight arm.

Rose - Source of previuos image.

----------------

Lot of circles to play with right, just try some,
stay tuned more tocome.

love nad light,

I agree, very clear explanation of things, I could understand it all! thanks! I'll think about flowers in a slightly different way now.

wow, wish i read something like this when i started out with the old flowers. to be honest with my flowers and antispin flowers i have always gone for the 4 steps, i never thought of tryng these trifoils. I have always wanted to put 6 steps in it. Think i will be playing with flowers alot more now.

Like with other moves you need to clear your forward
and backward anti-spins. This gives you ability to
turn.

If you can do longarm(giant) turns it's much better
to start trying anti-spin ones after. Because the hand
movement in fact the same.

Try fist turn 180 and than 360.

i never thought of tryng these trifoils. I have always wanted to put 6 steps in it.

the trifoils turn out to be 6 petal flowers.

each hand does a trifoil.

since your hands are 180 degrees apart at all times, the trifoils are offset from each other by 60 degrees, giving you a flower pattern with 6 petals in total

the difference is that the petals don't overlap like in most flower patterns which is beautiful, but comes at no small price - they are super difficult to spin.

butterfly flowers work really well (and feel far more natural for some reason) with each hand actually spinning 6 petals.

very nice post richee - with the help of the diagrams, it makes the main points very clearly.

a couple of definitions i use differently but i won't confuse the issue by going into them here

cheers guys, whhicked advise! will start working on these. its odd getting used to the trifoil, very odd as my arms dont want to stop in these new positions. The butterfly flower seems to come naturally to me aswell. alot easer than the normal flowers.

Me thinks they just used Polar plots... For instance R=Cos(2*Theta) <- that would be a normal four petal flower with a petal at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock.

Ah. Sorry, got confused with Andy's stuff, which looks like basic wave theory.
