I've finally nailed the weave, thanks to this DVD I just bought - Poi Spinning Basics with Pele's Element.
I feel like a proper spinner now!

floor/ceiling plane 5 beat weave
im guessing its like a 5beat corkscrew, but i could be wrong
yeah, corscrew in the HoP lessons is wide appart, take that , do it with your hands clost together all the time, as she does when she does it in front of her, and you're basically doing a horizontal 3 beat weave.
next add 2 beats

In hyperlights video of testing the mark2's the guy uses an air stall, throing them up in the middle, straight above his head, from coming in from a reverse butterfly, then yank them down and back round.
loved it, tried it last night got it working straight off, jsut need to tidy it up a bit (pull down faster is all that's needed I think)
I've an urge to call it a 'depth charge', 'dropplet' would nearly suit it perfectly but it't not big enough , does it have a name?

yakumo - its some kind of inverted stall. If you do them spinning same direction one goes up and one goes down - they meet in the middle - it looks cooooool Nailed antispin buzzsaw flowers the other day. My normal buzzsaw flowers are still pretty poor though. And Ive been wibbling a bit as well as getting a couple of stands. Also been playing with lockout and longarm stuff. One day I will manage to do a flower with one arm and a flat long arm with the other (from a side view it would be a flower in a big circle). Had a bit of obsurd flailing with Tobi at the weekend trying to work out straight jackets. Failed miserably and nearly ended up with facial bruising

I just learned butterfly!
Only my second day out with my poi too.
I can't seem to comprehend any other move yet. I tangle strings on 3 beat weave and take out my kneecaps/head on low turn.
Any tips?

Well, I can't do it properly yet... But tonight I nailed my first 6bt weave...
Interestingly enough, it was somehow the 4beat reverse weave I learned earlier tonight which led to me understanding the 6bt weave... Wicked... Well I think it was anyways.
Now I only need to do 5bt reverse weave... And try to make sure I know 6bt weave for sure, then I will tackle 7bt weave... Altho, I don't like the weaving beyond 5... It's to much hassle. to little freedome I think.
Also smoothed out my 5bt corkscrew alot =))

Been a bit of a busy doggie this weekend - I've tackled overhead ttn, crossers, normal wallplanes, corkscrews and this move I made up, which I call an arc - starting in behind the head butterfly, into overhead butterfly then down into normal butterfly. Does that move have a proper name? I've managed a very shaky reverse weave as well.

ummmm, I got a rather cool inverted semi inside buzzsaw thing.
I go from an inverted buzzsaw, taken to one side then I turn 90 degrees and bring the buzzsaw inside my left arm, in front of my right arm, then I flip it so it's inside my right arm, in front of my left arm...
Does that make any sense?
it's like the horizontal buzzsaw combination, but inverted, vertical and half inside... :P
