Thank you everyone for helping us have our 1st successful night spinning@ the rag factory.

There were about 35 people in the hall and it was cozy. I have spoken to Melanie who runs the centre and she has confirmed that we have the same room again next week and if we have more people we can use another room, so there is loads of space for expansion. There is an area out the front for smoking and we will get it cleaned up for summer.

The rag factory is child friendly, its 3 quid to come play and you’re welcome to bring your own drinks.

We will be here every week on Tuesday nights from about 7pm – 10pm for the foreseeable future and we will go to the pride of Spitalfields pub after.

We will still be looking for a large venue that will allow us to fit 100+ people like the old spinning @spitz market. If you know of anyone who can help, please do not hesitate to contact me.

So tell your mates and we look forward to seeing you next week…

I used to go to Spitz yeeeears ago when Euan set it all up, such a shame the b**tards kicked you out!!

I've been unable to spin for over a year cos of a knee injury and surgery, but I'm back up and about now and may pop down to do some practise after such a long lay off - is it every Tuesday still? I may bring James and some of my old spinning mates as well.

The Rag Factory:

A charitable organization supporting the creative fabric of London. 6700 square feet in total of unique space. Rehearsal spaces, audition spaces, filming spaces, working spaces, thinking spaces, eating spaces, meeting spaces & surprising spaces. Creative thinking for creative people & a work of art in progress. The rooms available may vary depending on their bookings however we should have space every week. There is a large warehouse space, and 2 medium studio spaces. There is outside spaces available with all the rooms and we are looking into the optional use of some football courts over the road for the warm summer nights. It is not as large and as expandable at the old market but the feel of the place is lovely and the staff are very welcoming. The venue is child friendly.

Summers here and we would love to see you spinning @ the rag factory and at some festivals…

We have Gracie from flame oz coming to do a workshop this week in feicha, an ancient form of martial art fighting using a forked spear where the staff/spear is constantly rotating while being manipulated. This crosses over excellently into contact staff. There will be space and possibly time for workshops for 2 groups for about 10 people please bring your staff with you.

We are planning on taking the spinning@ bar to play and Bristol juggling conventions and would love for you to come and hang out.

A common misconception is that a juggling convention is only for jugglers… this is not true as the term juggler in this context covers a whole range of circus skills and object manipulation.

Yup, it's very reliable

Shame that the Kingston meet died a death (I'm sure there was one about 4 years ago though I never went) but it'll be our gain!

As far as I know nunchuckau and any legal weapons are fine (there are a couple of guys that regularly do escrima-type stuff) Believe me, it's worth the train fare (I travel back to St Albans afterwards and I'm also a no-good student).

Hopefully see you next Tuesday! (it's going to be a good one, there's definately a juggling workshop by Will (2ball and general juggling) (check out this awesome video of Will: http://www.juggling.tv/vaults )and maybe a poi workshop though I can't remember for sure).

On another issue, what is the user-friendly nickname for the new meets? Spinning@ is too long and @ is a bit too vague for my liking so may I propose Sp@ (Spat) as Spitz belongs to the past now (yes people, it's a big fat unashamed double-entendre).

We are arranging teachers to come in more regularly to add a bit of verity and to help boost numbers.

we meet from 6,30 and workshos planned start at 8pm:

30 September a poi beginners and intermediate work shop
21st October durbs from burnt toast will be coming in to teach some cool poi tricks and on the 28th oct, Will is coming back in to do more ball juggling and manipulation.

Every week Chris is available to teach some contact ball juggling.

7th October I'll be doing a rope dart workshop... I'll bring a couple of spares but if you can bring your own!

The best ropes to use are marine lines or cotton bondage rope (my favourite!) and I'd reckomend something soft on the end for a weight (tie a sock poi on the end of some rope for a basic one) for beginners.

Well as kev said the last couple of weeks have been great around 60 people, so i just wanna thank you all for your support.

I'm really looking forward to the party it's gonna be loads of fun. Just wanted to add some news about that. I've been working on a live VJ project over the last month. The VJ i'm working with will be coming alone to the party to provide a live/interactive VJ thing. So don't forget your toys, as you all be part of the visual entertainment for the night.

Our Xmas party was a great success… we had about 15 fantastic acts in the show and a turnout of about 150 people. We have raised some money to invest in some new toys and we have a little back up funds…

so a very big thank you to everyone who came and had a great night, a huge thanks to everyone who helped set up and take down the area…. it looked fab.

I did poi at uni which was a couple of years ago now so im very out of practise and tbh never got past the beginner moves! Is this meet up thing for anyone? Can i just turn up? part of me wants to and part of me is a bit scared!...

I think the week of the Christmas party (tuesday 9th December) a guy was at Rag taking photos - his name was Freddie Fisher and he wore a turquoise hat - does anyone know him, and if so can they point me towards him on facecrack? I can't find him on there, but he took some real nice photos of me.

I so still owe bells and sprinkes. From Febuary I will have Tuesdays off from work, joy!

Complications kept me woefully from the Xmas party... I think we should have a February party, to celebrate it being february n all.

Feb 3rd Magic Matt will be doing some ball juggeling. A workshop for basic 3 ball and more.

Feb 19th we have the fantastic silvia doing a hoop work shop.

Fed 17th Will will be coming to do a juggeling workshop for the more advanced juggler.

Feb 24th has'nt been confirmed yet but it should be Sam doing a poi spinning workshop.

As well as these workshops me and kev are allways there to teach, or you can just ask anybody how there doing what you see them doing. Everybody is really friendly and most will teach. So come along and have some fun. Thanks all Chris and kev."

is there room for complete beginners or are there classes/workshops I could maybe sign up to?

I'm generally in and around Old St on a Tuesday by 7pm you see!!

Bear1970 - There aren't really classes as such, but there are plenty of fluffy souls who could teach you a thing or two.

Head down Heneage Street off Brick Lane around 7pm, and you'll find us soon enough. We'll either be on the right about halfway down or at the end on the left, you'll see people hanging around outside.

Hello hello people! just moved down london livin in lewisham. I am a little directionally challenged and also slightly poo at computers so to save me lots of time and blaggedness.
