Sunday Special. Not poi. not staff, but
Bees fighting - Hold on for the surprise ending as to how the little bees fight back against the big hornets!!
Then tell me, how the hell did that evolve??

National Geographic News 2005 Number 1 video clip:
Bees Battle "Hornets From Hell"

"A small but highly efficient killing machine lurks in the mountains of Japan—the Japanese giant hornet. The voracious predator pumps out a dose of venom with an enzyme so strong it can dissolve human tissue. Just a handful of these hornets can kill 30,000 European honeybees within hours. Watch an attack of giant hornets on a beehive, and learn the surprising secret that Japanese honeybees use in their defense."

Here's the rest of the Nat Geog top 10:

Happy Monday, and what does this Monday turn up on Drews video Blog?
This nostaligic old clip will charm all the silent movie buffs.
A Historic film from the pathe News Archive showing Col. Sgt George Simpson in 1933
Flag poi and club swinging in the UK.

Follow this link, and you should find a free preview low res download at the bottom of the page:
http://www.britishpathe.com/thumbnails.p...club%20swinging

In order to download you have to go through the whole basket thing. but It won't cost any money, and its well worth it as you can get a lot more historic videos of all kind of interesting things - a great site to waste days on. theres at least 1 more club swinging clip.
http://www.britishpathe.com

So for a couple of days I have put the little puppie up in my gallery here:
http://www.homeofpoi.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=829
catch it while you can.

"Since the world's beginning, we've all searched for that "youngish feeling". "Club swinging" keeps this 67 year-older young!" Elderly man stands in front of a curtain in the Pathe studio demonstrating his club swinging technique. "Hard as nails and fit as the proverbial fiddle through club and flag swinging" (says Geo. Simpson, late Col Sgt, Middlesex Regt.)"

Closer view of George as he swings a Union Jack and a Stars and Stripes around his head - very patriotic! L/S of George flag swinging. "Slow-motion shows how complete these exercises are for the arms and shoulders"

Slow motion footage shows flags off to best effect. "Incidentally, the flags are not fastened to rods as they first appear, but just weighted with shot and roped - the speed keeps them taut." Another slow motion sequence.

OK, some other historical sources:
Over at "The Journal of Manly Arts"* ( http://ejmas.com/jmanly/ )we have:
Club swinging - (not video)

http://ejmas.com/pt/ptart_treat_0501.htm
http://ejmas.com/pt/ptart_ymca_0401.htm

*Not wishing to be associated with some of the more "fance figures with club swinging" which I guess will be somewhere in "The Journal of Girly Arts".

Enjoy

Mmmmmmmmmmmm....

They didn't have the old shows up last time I looked... (some dubious clubswinging , but the horses are great!) Nice to see the progression, how they've kept the energy, but made things much more pure and clear.

I tried to ask them if they had a full dvd, but they never replied

I actually prefer the music on the Koh Tao vid to that used on COL 5. Such a gorgeous vid!

Well its Thursday. So heres a video with me in it and some crazy good ball Contact:
Hangar Fun
Here's some links:
HangarFun.wmv

Only I don't really do a lot in this video other than dance like a lion, throw a ball out of a window and be a bit odd. (There is a reason for the odd stuff at the end, I just haven't finished making it yet.) I did also do some holding of a camera. You also get to see my desk, where I'm typing from now, and my super ergonomic chair.

Hangar fun if really a kind of promo that Ryan made to show our lovely friend Jeanine's crazy fun stuff. Which is why there isn't the best stuff of Ryan.

When Stefan Sing came to the Hangar for a weekend in December, he showed Ryan and I how to dance not only like a Lion and a tiger, but also a puma and a cheetah. But then, he is a super good juggler/manipulator and a surprisingly really nice guy so you would expect him to know a few ninja secrets like that.
Well here are the original lion and tiger:

That's all. Have a nice day Yall
Drew

PS bonus mini video of me doing Drews "Revolving Door" trick.
Loop it in your media player.
