oh yuta. i've been a big fan of the pics in your gallery here, and to see you actually in motion was a treat. wow. gorgeous spinning. i love the long-arm windmill pirouettes and all the flower variations you do. been working on those for (it seems like) ages but nowhere near as clean and smooth as yours. i gotta go practice now.

Yes Yuta, I used to spin poi/staff with Dai back in the Drome - Drew
And I was lucky enough to have Drew introduce me to Dai at an EJC a few years back. I spent an hour in an empty juggling hall with him late one night. I'm still only about 35 minutes of the way through learning the whole hour's worth of material.
Your video is amazing and inspiring. Please gift us with more in the future...

amazing awsome .. really a great set, I particularly love the dynamic variation between speedy pirouette and slow isolations just remember to have a few light on the floor (like a torch), next time, so that we can see you a bit more .. and find a better place Olive
I can't believe I missed this video, considering I've slowly been building a library of your videos from your website over the past two weeks.
Yuta, you are my new poi idol
I'm loving the the whole variation of spinning speed thing, I don't get to see alot of that. That's a great artsy starting to the video too, great way to reduce the amount of fuel flying of freshly spun off wicks I might add.
I really, really want to revisit pirouettes,,,,again

Enough praise? Nope- I DREAMT about it a couple of nights ago, only my girlfriend somehow was partly doing the spinning, so it was actually even better
Love it Yuta, you've totally reinspired me to work on flow and screw the technical stuff that's been getting me down for a while.

Yuta, I've watch other videos of yours before and once again I find myself enjoying every second of a video. Smooth, precise, interesting, very clean and perfect for the music.
Dancing can be quite hard. I dance myself, i do liquiding. Anyways, Yuta, you have majorly inspired me in the art of poi, i respect you deeply. Take care man, much love. I will be waiting anxiously for your new movies.

I liked the articulation of your back/spine while you danced, and the extension of energy through the fingertips. Often modern dancers fail to carry the flow all the way through the head and hands, so it was lovely to see the advantage a poi spinner brings into movement while doing so.
I would have liked to see the dance integrated into the poi more, rather than having you disappear directly to black background and glow. I want to see your gorgeous free modern dance movement- but with poi too. Maybe more of a transition point can be developed in the future?
But it was the best glow spin I have ever seen, and I absolutely love your movement style. A beautiful choreograghy!
Can not wait to see more, in person, when are you coming here to make me coffee? ! lol Andrea

Great video Yuta, it's given me lots of inspiration for a routine I need to work up with another spinner.
I did manage to find a higher res. version on your website, and I just watched your modern dance performance video which really helped to increase my understanding of the whole Yuta phenomenon. Strange, that's the only video I've seen ( modern dance ) where I'm NOT going to say "it needs more light"

It is part of a series of stories being run as part of Maori week, so the commentary is Maori with English subtitles (of Japanese doing poi - 3 races in one)!!! marvellous! Yuta, you rock!!

I posted this on begginners moves, but let me do this here too. I have been working on Poi Online Lesson, since a couple of months ago. and it's become good enough for watching skills, moves, and Japanese poi community.
So I post here today for making more oversea visitors to my website This mean, I have finally made ENGLISH one as well!!
As you can see, my english is not good. And I am lazy to translate often, so there are many blank text lesson as well, but you can see the video any way.
I made 5 main level "Basic" "Beginner" "Intermediate" "Advanced" "Super Advanced". Then I set a lot of categories to find what you want. This categories are great thing for finding the moves you like
Threre are many more fun information on the lessons, so please come and play !
Please let me mention about my engish and poi helpers. I have learnt poi english alot from Matt Terry, Alien Jon, and Poispininge book. So my english is basiacly from them. Thanks alot!!
Anyway, I hope it helps you all. if you find any dead-link or bad english, please add comment or mail me.
Once you sign up for onlinelesson, you can add comment, and download video for iPod too
