Being thirteen does mean you have more time to juggle, but it also means you've got to go to school.

I learnt 5balls at 14. My record after 6 months was 1min 40secs. Can you beat that after six months?

Nice. I don't think I was that good after 6 months.

I taught my dad to juggle today, he's struggling mind...

hexagonic,
Ive been juggling five for bout three months, so ive got till march to beat 1min 40. At the moment im getting bout ten more catches evry week (last week I was at 74... that was just a massive jump for me). Since I reached 30 cathces the pattern just clicked! btw. approximately how many catches do you think you did in that 1 min 40? it depends on how high you were throwin.

what do you think are the best warm ups before doin five balls. Normally, i start with two, doing 5, pass, 5 pass. Three: showers, snake, high cascade, flashes. Four: 55550, or 555pass555pass. 5: flashes.

Edit- is a 1 in siteswap a pass, and a 0 a mimed throw?

Approximately 4 catches per second, if I recall correctly. 1min 40 = 400catches.

My record of 2 min 15 ish = 540.

so ive gotta beat approximately 400 catches. 12 weeks= 120 more catches acording to my learning rate, equaling 210 catches after 6 months. looks like hexagonic has won.... but then again, he was a year older than me.

Edit: how many catches would you class as having the patetrn solid?

That's what I like about juggling, the sense of trumph you feel when you learn a new trick. I don't feel that for any other object manipulation business...

Anyway, regarding your question about warming up for five, my opinion is - all those siteswaps (5552, 55550, 5551 etc) are rubbish for helping with five.

My advice =

Don't practice long runs all the time;, practice your ability to start correctly, to keep the pattern nicely in the air, and then have a clean finish, for maybe 30/40/50 throws. I find that helps.

Another method -

Do 10 sets of flashs, 10 sets of 7 catches, 10 sets of 11 catches, 10 sets of 15 catches etc, builing up a base pattern with 5.

All those four ball siteswaps which "help" with 5 should be easier once you're good with five.

it's funny how sometimes people write "5" and sometimes people write "five" . . . .

so, umm, I still can't do 66661 with five. I really should practice doing 5 more often. On a brighter note: I think I might be able to do rubentsien's revenge now . . .

is that smiley ment to be havin a go at me? i sometimes change whether i say five ball or 5 balls, but does it matter?

my 4 ball mills mess is more solid now, and im doing about 15ish rounds, which equals about 60 throws. Would you say 4b mills mess was harder or easier than 5b cascade?

no no no the off topic thingy was pointing out that what I was saying was off topic and generally pointless. There is nothing with saying "5" or "five", it was just an observation.

I'd say it was harder, but that's just because I can't do it but I can do five balls. I reckon 4b mills is harder because you have to cross your arms and it is generally harder to see where the balls are going.

just checkin, cuz the smiley looked a bit angry/annoyed.
o yeh... how long does it take before my newbie status wears off? how many posts do i need to make? Its kinda annoyin.
Also is 444033 mills mess any good for practicing 4ball mills?

Edit: how is it possible to record a trick so you can put it into siteswap to make it into a video on jugglewiki. I think i may have made a random trick that I dont know how to record.

Use the sandbox feature that's around there somewhere..

4bmills mess is harder than 5 balls, but I've never tried 4b Rubensteins Beth, it sounds crazily hard!
